Our Services

Custom Designing

With over 30 years of expertise and knowledge, Montreal Plastics has been creating high quality custom packaging and fulfilling all its clients' specific needs.

Computerized Drawings

Start off with a simple idea whether it is a rough sketch, drawing, mockup sample or the actual product and we can transform it into a computerized drawing using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. These product concept drawings can then be either revised or approved lending way to a final production sample for your approval.

CNC Machining

Our CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Router capabilities allow us to convert any electronic file using CAD /CAM software and convert aluminum into a precisely machined mould.

All Aluminum Tooling

All the production moulds that we use are produced in-house and are made from aluminum. These high quality moulds are consistent in finish, size and shape and can be easily modified. The aluminum allows for excellent heat conductivity. We also use a water cooling system with the moulds in order to further enhance the quality of our products.

Die Cutting

We have one of the most accurate cutting technologies on the Market, therefore producing consistent and precision cutting of the final product time after time. When nesting or stacking the feeder on automated machinery, the precision of the pieces eliminates any unnecessary downtime.

Sampling

Once your computerized drawing is approved we follow up by producing an actual production sample or batch samples as per your needs.

Colours

Plastics can be matched to any Pantone colour as long as the minimum tonnage is respected.

Electronics (ESD) Anti-Static

We also produce packaging for static-sensitive components and passive devices entering ESD-controlled environments.

Materials

We use a wide range of plastic materials in different thicknesses (From .007 gauge to ¼"), colours and textures such as:

Symbol Polymer type Description
PET (PETE)

Polyethylene Terephthalate
PETE Exhibits superior processing characteristics. It forms quickly under relatively low temperature for energy-efficient forming cycles. It also resists processing flaws such as blushing, brittleness, and sag. PET's high clarity and gloss add consumer appeal, with no odor or taste transmission. Excellent stiffness and strength add impact-resistance and pilfer-control to packaging. FDA accepted for food packaging, with no odor/taste transmission.
HDPE

High-Density Polyethylene
HDPE - For many packaging applications, versatility and value are critical. High-density polyethylene is an ideal choice. HDPE offers superior toughness, chemical resistance, and low-temperature impact properties. HDPE enhances packaging designs requiring hinged features. It will fold easily without cracking or tearing, and its excellent memory allows the hinge to withstand repeated use
PVC

Polyvinyl Chloride
PVC is usually an amorphous thermoplastic material with excellent chemical resistance and dielectric properties, good tensile, flexural and mechanical strength, low moisture absorption, exceptional dimensional stability and good flammability characteristics.
LDPE

Low Density Plyethylene
LDPE is very resistant to chemicals, similarly to HDPE,, but it has a much lower density and it is much more flexible and resilient. Often used in packaging, trays, and other parts that need to be soft and pliable.
PP

Polypropylene
Polypropylene with chemical resistance, heat resistance, and toughness is ideal for demanding applications. An excellent option for prepared foods and portion-controlled packaging; it can be flash-frozen or hot-filled. Polypropylene can be used for printed graphics. Polypropylene's inherent pliability makes it a natural for hinged packaging. It is also FDA accepted.
PS

Polystyrene
Polystyrene is a clear, colorless polymer used extensively for low-cost applications. PS is most commonly used in the Food, Toys and Electrical / Electronic applications due to its high impact resistance, food contact acceptability and flame retardant.
ABS

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
ABS is a modified form of styrene. It is much more rigid, and is the product of choice for applications where toughness is required. . It is commonly used in permanent displays, thermoforming, signs, machine guards, and more. ABS is naturally glossy, although dull grades are available as well.
CAB

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate
CAB is known for its clarity, high gloss finish and its ultra violet resistance. It is especially good for its deep-draw properties, ease of formability, and impact resistance.
FLOCK

Flocked Styrene
Flock is generally applied to Polystyrene and is used in high end industries such as Cosmetic, Watch, Liquor and Coin Presentations, just to name a few.
HIPS

High Impact Polystyrene
HIPS is a fairly rigid, relatively inexpensive polymer. It is easy to work with, and It has many uses, including outdoor signage, point of purchase displays (POP), printing, thermoformed applications and more. HIPS is available matt and in high gloss finishes (through co-extrusion). HIPS in its natural form are translucent, but it can be matched and coloured in virtually any shade.
OPS

Oriented Polystyrene
OPS properties include remarkable clarity, excellent stiffness to allow down gauging, superb yield, superior dimensional stability, and FDA and Kosher compliance

Sustainability

Montreal Plastics is a strong believer in Sustainability and reducing our Carbon Footprint (A measurement of all greenhouse gases we individually produce in units of tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.)

Approximately 65% of all the raw materials that we use come from recycled water bottles. The excess trim from all our manufacturing is also recycled.

Did you know?

The Energy cost of producing a ton of recycled RPET is approximately 1/3rd of the cost of recycling a ton of Carton Board.
